Almost all 60Hz AC hum is caused by ground loops and acts like a radio antenna (loop antenna). The hum canceler completely eliminates this problem by disconnecting the ground loop, making the signal line unable to absorb AC hum and noise in the first place. Compared to balanced circuits, unbalanced circuits are more susceptible to AC noise and RF interference, the longer the unbalanced cables, the more likely problems are. Using this device to connect two devices is one of the cheapest and most effective methods to convert between unbalanced signal and true balanced signal. It automatically converts the signal voltage to match the ground potential difference.
