A powerful signal amplifier receiver or volume control, you may need a long line connecting the TV audio and the receiver on the other side of the room to provide high gain through any line level signal source, allowing longer cable runs or requiring "buffers" to amplify the lower volume. You can use it between the line level signal source and the power amplifier as a signal amplifier, 3.5mm + RCA port matches almost all product interfaces.
